Calamansi, the fruit Malaysians call limau kasturi, has moved from the side of the plate to the centre of the menu. If you are buying it by the litre for a drinks line, a sauce or a dessert, the decision is no longer about taste alone. It is about format, consistency, paperwork and whether supply holds up. This guide covers what to settle before you commit.
Which calamansi format suits your production?
Calamansi is sold in more forms than most buyers expect, and the right one depends on what you make.
Single-fruit puree
The pressed fruit, and the closest format to fresh. Tropicor Calamansi Puree has one ingredient: calamansi fruit grown in Malaysia. It suits premium drinks, juice bars, dressings, marinades and frozen desserts.
Calamansi with skin, pulp or skin only
Our fruit juice and puree range also lists calamansi with skin, calamansi pulp and calamansi skin, for products where the peel’s aroma or the fruit’s body is part of the recipe.
Syrup and concentrate
Sweetened or reduced formats with a longer shelf life, built for foodservice dispensing and industrial mixing. The range lists plain calamansi alongside calamansi with lemongrass and calamansi with ginger. Ask us for current availability.
Choosing between puree, concentrate and syrup for a café menu? Our calamansi puree guide for cafés walks through the trade-offs. This guide is for buyers working at volume.
How far a litre of calamansi puree goes
A bulk price only means something once you know the yield. Tropicor Calamansi Puree is concentrated: the label direction for drinks is 100 ml of puree to 900 ml of still or sparkling water.
That turns one litre of puree into about ten litres of drink, or roughly 40 servings of 250 ml before ice, sweetener or other ingredients. Use the ratio as the starting point for your costing, then adjust it to your recipe.
Ask every supplier the dilution their product is designed for. Without it, two price lists cannot be compared.
What to put in your specification
Before you compare quotes, write down what the calamansi has to do in your product. A good supplier works to that specification and holds it batch after batch.
- Application and dose: the product it goes into, and how much per batch or serving.
- Taste targets: sweetness, acidity and colour. Calamansi should look bright, not brown.
- Brix and acidity: the measures that keep a recipe stable. Ask for the figures and the tolerance either side.
- Pack size and storage: what your line and storeroom can handle. Tropicor Calamansi Puree comes in 1 litre bottles labelled for cool, dry storage away from direct sunlight, with custom pack sizes on request.
- Volume and delivery: monthly volume, delivery frequency and location, so supply can be planned around your production schedule.
- Documentation: the halal certificate, a certificate of analysis (COA) and shelf-life documentation.
Already selling a calamansi drink? Send us a benchmark sample. Our technologists can match its sweetness, acidity and colour, then lock the specification for production.

Halal, food safety and the paperwork
If you hold halal certification yourself, every ingredient you use needs current halal evidence. Tropicor’s fruit products are processed under JAKIM halal certification, with GMP and MESTI quality systems and HACCP-compliant processes.
Check that the certificate names the product you are buying, not just the company, and that it is in date. For export orders, we provide export documentation alongside the specification.
Local supply or imported?
Not all calamansi puree on sale in Malaysia is local: imported purees, from European pastry brands to Southeast Asian exporters, are on the market too. Imported fruit can be perfectly good, but longer supply lines bring currency exposure, longer lead times and less recourse when a batch is off.
Tropicor Calamansi Puree is made from calamansi grown in Malaysia and processed at our halal-certified facilities here, so the factory is a phone call and a drive away. See how we work.
Your own calamansi product
If the plan is a calamansi drink under your own brand rather than an ingredient for your kitchen, that is a private label project. We handle formulation, certification support and full manufacturing on our OEM and private label lines. Our guide to OEM food manufacturing explains how it works.
Who we supply
- Café chains and juice bars buy foodservice packs.
- Beverage manufacturers order industrial volumes against agreed specifications. More on our beverage manufacturer solutions page.
- Restaurants and caterers use it in drinks, dressings and marinades.
If your menu also uses lime, lemon, passion fruit, soursop, pandan or lemongrass, those are in our fruit products range too. Ask for the current availability list.
